Design Residency | Oct. 2018-June 2019

This is a past project.

Islote—A Guadalajara-based commercial and educational project that champions Mexican design takes up residence in TMR’s lobby shop.

About the Design Residency.

TMR launches a pilot design residency aimed at bringing some of the world’s most dynamic experimental design projects to Los Angeles. Through rotating residency periods, this new initiative is omitted to promoting and advancing emerging voices in global industrial design, fashion, and architecture. Guadalajara-based Islote is the first participant of this residency at TMR. Through a rotating series of products presented in TMR’s lobby shop, Islote will introduce LA audiences to some of the most exciting voices of Mexico’s vibrant design scene.

About Islote.

Islote is a commercial and educational project that offers a curated selection of Mexican design objects, editions, and artist brands. We believe that the relationship between architecture and design has been integral to the development of Latin American cultural production. It remains today an inspiration for creative collaborations across many contexts in the region. We champion products that have links to the work of contemporary artists, that are environmentally conscious, and that are committed to artisanal traditions.
